Mixing ladylike materials with edgier pieces of my favorite way to dress! Feminine pieces paired with a great leather jacket is a great way to get this look. I’m LOVING this Zara leather jacket I recently picked up and have been wearing it with almost everything.
It became my goal to figure out how to incorporate the jacket into my outfit for a recent holiday party. Then, as I was getting dressed, I pulled out this great Banana Republic sale find – a red guipure lace skirt – and thought, why not? Threw it on with the jacket and boom – ready to go.
Guipure lace is a one of my favorite types of lace. It basically creates this amazing lace that is an overlay pattern without a net background. Think of most beautiful lace dresses you’ve seen lately, like the “Azalea” Self-Portrait dress…that’s guipure.
So I grabbed my gold heeled, velvet pointed toe shoes to complete the look. The velvet shoes helped the whole look (which could’ve been too springy) make the transition to holiday. Never underestimate the power of velvet to transcend seasons! What looks have you been cooking up for your holiday soirees this week?
